When students visit us at Miami University, often times, it is the current Miamians that prospective students connect with and remember most. Some of you may be wondering, how these current students got involved working with prospective applicants. Therefore, I wanted to provide a brief overview of some of the student groups that we utilize in the Office of Admission.

The first group we work with is the Miami University Student Ambassadors, or MUSA as they like to be called. Many of you may remember the students meeting and greeting you as you arrived in our Office for your campus visit. These are the MUSA members who volunteer to welcome students and their families to the University upon check-in for a visit. These students are available to answer questions and help make you feel welcome when you first arrive on campus. More recently, our student ambassadors play a part during the first 10 minutes of our information session. MUSA members also connect with students after their visit. If you’ve already visited campus, perhaps you remember getting a post card from one of them! For more information about MUSA or if you have questions about getting involved in this organization, please contact Chrissy Ormond at ormomdca@muohio.edu.

Another important student group in the Office of Admission is our beloved tour guides. The tour guides are current students who are passionate about taking our guests throughout campus providing a visual tour of what it is like to be a Miami student. They share personal stories, answer those tough questions you may have, and ultimately help to make students feel excited about Miami University. For more information about the tour guides or if you have questions about getting involved in this organization, please contact Kristine Taylor at kreegeka@muohio.edu.

Finally, we have two other organizations that our Admission Office utilizes quite often, the Transfer Student Organization and the Diversity Recruitment Ambassadors. Both of these groups have been recently formed and their roles in the Office continue to grow. For example, the Transfer Student Organization helps with all of our transfer student programming. They try to connect with incoming transfer students to help them learn about the resources that Miami has to offer students. The Diversity Recruitment Ambassadors are the newest student groups utilized by the Admission Office. They are a great resource for our Office as the University continues to attract and welcome students from all backgrounds and experiences. For more information about the Transfer Student Organization, contact me at jicinsba@muohio.edu. For more information about the Diversity Recruitment Ambassadors, please contact Mandy Hart at hartah@muohio.edu.
