First Day of Summer School!

I know what you are thinking. Only students who get in trouble or have poor grades attend summer school. Right? This is not the case at Miami University at all! Although a majority of our students take classes only during the Fall and Spring semesters, we offer summer courses and many students find that it is a great way to get ahead in their major and perhaps even graduate early. Students have the option of taking summer courses during four summer sessions. The first session actually starts today! There are many advantages in taking summer classes: smaller class sizes, a relaxed campus setting, and the courses cover the same material as they would during a fall or spring semester but in a more intensive time frame of five or six weeks. Below is the link to the full academic calendar including the summer classes at Miami: http://www.muohio.edu/reg/calendars/.

Another way Miami students continue to work toward graduation during the summer months is to study abroad. Previous blog entries referenced Miami’s study abroad programs, but in case you want the link to the Office of International Education, I have provided that again for your convenience:
http://www.muohio.edu/international/. Furthermore, many students find that studying abroad during the summer is a great way to gain the global experience while working toward graduation.

If you find yourself at some point in your college career not sure what you should be doing during the summer, perhaps sticking around for summer classes or looking into a study abroad program may be just what you need.

Until next time,
Brian
